Deploy your first server
Go from an account and a configuration to a running Linux server and your first SSH connection.
On this page
1. Prepare your account
Create an account or sign in. Complete email verification when prompted. Keep access to that inbox: order, server, and security notices are sent there.
- Decide what application you want to run and the Linux distribution it supports.
- Estimate memory, CPU, storage, and outbound transfer needs.
- If you already use SSH keys, add your public key under SSH keys in the dashboard before ordering.
2. Choose and configure
Open Pricing, choose a family and deployment region, then select Configure on an available server. Availability and prices are checked for that configuration.
- Choose one of the supported operating systems.
- Set a recognizable hostname and any tags you need.
- Select the SSH keys you want installed on this server.
- Review optional private IPv4 and automatic backups when offered.
- Review the monthly total and accept the terms before placing the order.
3. Complete payment
Pay through checkout or confirm the purchase with your saved card. If additional card authentication is needed, complete the payment step presented to you. New server subscriptions are monthly and prepaid, with automatic renewals.
An order that needs review will show that state before payment. After payment is confirmed, the dashboard tracks provisioning. Wait for the server to become active and for the ready notice.
4. Connect and make it yours
Open your server in the dashboard and select Access. Use a private key matching a selected public key, or reveal the generated credentials once and save them securely.
Follow the SSH guide to connect. Then update the operating system, configure your application, and set up access controls and a recovery plan.
